Cartulary and Archive of the Lembiotissa Monastery near Smyrna : Some Preliminary Remarks
소아시아 서부 해안인 스미르나 근교에 위치해 있던 렘비오티사 수도원의 문서집은 오늘날 소장번호 Vind. hist. gr. 125를 부여받고 오스트리아 국립 도서관에 보관되어 있다. 이 문서집은 12세기에서 14세기 사이에 작성된 수도원의 토지재산 및 제 권리에 대한 200여 개의 그리스어 문서들로 이루어져 있다. 이토록 풍부했던 문서화 작업 덕택에 렘비오티사 수도원 문서집은 비잔티움 제국의 역사를 연구하는 데 있어 가장 중요한 자료들 중 하나이다. 그러나 이 문서집의 작성 의도 및 문서집이 가지고 있는 그 자체의 기능에 대해서는 오늘날까지도 거의 연구가 이루어지지 못했다. 그러므로 이 논문은 문서집의 구조와 내용 및 각 문서에 첨부된 문서 개요들의 분석을 통해 문서집의 편수과정에 대한 몇 가지 선구적인 해석을 제기하고자 한다.
스미르나의 렘비오티사 수도원 문서집에 대한 몇 가지 견해들
The ‘cartulary’ from the Lembiotissa Monastery that once existed on the west shore of Asia Minor (near Smyrna) is currently conserved in the Austrian National Library (Cod. Vind. hist. gr. 125). This is a compilation of copies of ca. 200 Greek documents (12th-14th century) related to monastic properties and rights. Such exceptionally rich documentation makes the cartulary one of the most important sources for Byzantine studies, but there have been few attempts to light on the intention and function of this source itself, until today. The purpose of this article is to present some preliminary remarks on the editorial process of the codex by examining its composition and contents, and the resumes attached to each document.
